Video Logs

I’ve been thinking about the logging process of the class 12 project, and I think it will be a good idea to start video recording everything when I’m working.

This will mostly be whenever I launch one of my missions, and everything before and during it. I will be recording video from the balloon itself, but I also want to record all the events that happen on the ground, such as running the predictor software before the flight, then setting up all the equipment needed to make the mission work, all while giving commentary. Then recording the filling of the balloon, the balloon launch, and then the journey to track it. I think it will be a good idea to also record a mission debrief on video, so that I have the entire event on tape (well, digital). This should provide more than enough content to show at the presentation.

Although most of the filming will be done during missions, I could also film/record content from home, such as making little tutorials or if that’s too much then just screen recording some of the mini projects that go towards the big one, or time lapsing the building of things. I think it best to try and keep a log of everything that I can, which allows for unbiased views and opinions in the future.

The hardest part for this is not generating the content, but it’s what I do with that which will be hard. I’m good at taking videos, but usually they go into the “I’ll sort that out later” folder, which never happens. So I think it would be good to condense every mission down to one video from the ground and from the air, along with a photo slideshow. Adobe Premier Pro is probably the best option to use for editing, so I will learn that once I have some content.
