I have been giving some thought to the rig, which will hold the cameras and the housing, and how it will work. When researching online for rigs used in High Altitude Ballooning, online, I found that no one uses them, which got me thinking that I might have been going about this all wrong. Perhaps the rig is not needed at all, as I could just store the cameras in the housing, which would become the payload. However, I am not ready to shut down that avenue of opportunity just yet.
My uncle Simon, who is in the film industry, knows someone who builds camera rigs for the film industry, and could potentially help me with my requirements. Apparently, he is absolutely brilliant, and all I have to do is tell him what kind of shots I want, and he could help me achieve that.
I will wait until I have had a chance to talk to Rian before I contact him, as I rather want to fully understand how the balloon works and what kind of shots I will want, or if I even need a rig. By the looks of things, it seems I won’t, but who knows…
