Skydiving is amazing. Really amazing. Especially the parachute, as it is your only lifeline that stops you from falling into the ground. While skydiving yesterday, I had an idea. What if I could control the parachute remotely on the Balloon’s decent? It seems to be a pretty straightforward process of only pulling on two lines: pull left to go left, pull right to go right…
If I am able to implement something like this, it could potentially help me land it somewhere safe. This is all very well but I just realised that I would need to see it in order to control it successfully… This got me thinking about the equipment I will need. I’ve already thought about it a little bit, but not extensively. What equipment is needed to complete a flight successfully? This is what came to mind:
- A balloon with Helium (or Hydrogen)
- A vessel for the camera
- The camera
- The rig for the vessel (the frame)
- A parachute for the rig
- Tracking system of some kind
- Heating (maybe)
This might be more complicated than I thought…
I still have no idea how to track it. I will research that avenue tomorrow, along with calling Rian, as I forgot to do that. Again.
