I’ve been thinking a lot about the funding for the project, and when looking at crowdfunding campaigns, I noticed that school projects and personal projects did not receive many funds, mainly because no one knew about them. This got me thinking about publicity and advertising. If I want more people to see my project, I will need to go public. But I am not very good at that. I usually keep everything close to me and only share with my close friends and family, but if this is going to work, I will have to open myself up to the world.
I am thinking of starting a website or a Facebook page as an outlet for the project, where I could post my photos, videos and stories, and potentially get more publicity that way. In addition to this, I could write articles to the local newspaper and Grapevine (the school newsletter), contact online news websites with my story and hopefully get more views there.
The best way to do this is to get something up myself first (like a website), then once I have done one launch and I have a story, I send it to news outlets for the world to see and hopefully get people interested for future missions.
Perhaps I could also start a visual/video journal which I could upload to the website or Facebook, but I’ll see how it goes.
